Gix Internet (NASDAQ: GIXI) is up big this morning after announcing that its autonomous robots are now transporting blood and bone marrow specimens at Sheba Medical Center, Israel's largest hospital.

‍

I suspect there’s more to the move than this announcement, but to be fair, the announcement is meaningful. This news also comes on the heels of an existing operation in which robots developed by Gix's subsidiary, deliverz.ai, transport chemotherapy medications throughout the hospital.

‍

According to the company, its robotic delivery system has reduced average chemotherapy delivery times from approximately 40 minutes to 14 minutes, a 65% improvement.

‍

The technology uses artificial intelligence to coordinate robots and hospital employees, assigning deliveries based on urgency, location, and availability. It's an example of what's known as physical AI, where artificial intelligence is used to perform real-world tasks rather than simply generate text or images.

‍

And Gix is targeting a potentially lucrative market.

‍

Hospitals routinely move medications, blood samples, laboratory specimens, and medical equipment between departments. Automating those deliveries could reduce operating costs, improve efficiency, and free up healthcare workers for patient care.

‍

Gix says its robots have already completed thousands of delivery missions at Sheba. The company is also pursuing opportunities to introduce its technology to U.S. healthcare organizations.

‍

Indeed, Gix has demonstrated that its technology can perform practical tasks in a demanding healthcare environment. If the company can replicate those results across additional hospitals and convert deployments into recurring revenue, early investors could be well rewarded.
