Exascale Labs Holdings (NASDAQ: XLAB) surged more than 70% on Friday after investors learned that the small-cap artificial intelligence infrastructure company had secured an $8.2 million contract with Sunon, Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Sunonwealth Electric Machine Industry.
Under the terms of the agreement, Exascale will supply 12 Nvidia HGX B300 servers containing 96 graphics processing units (GPUs), along with networking equipment, installation services, and three years of IT support.
To be sure, an $8.2 million contract for a relatively small company like this is not trivial.
Exascale generated approximately $14.8 million in revenue during fiscal 2026, up 111% from roughly $7 million the previous year. That means its new $8.2 million agreement represents approximately 55% of the company's most recently reported annual revenue.
It’s the hardware
If you’re unfamiliar, Exascale provides computing infrastructure and services to customers that need significant processing power for artificial intelligence and other demanding applications.
Rather than developing AI models itself, the company helps supply and manage the hardware those models depend on. It's actually a business that’s greatly benefiting from the enormous amount of money being invested in AI infrastructure, particularly as companies look for ways to access powerful computing systems without building everything themselves.
The Sunon agreement also includes 36 months of IT operations services, giving Exascale an opportunity to generate revenue beyond the initial equipment delivery.
